Political economy, its development and impact on world events.

The book includes brief lives of more than fifty significant thinkers including Adam Smith, Karl Marx, and John Maynard Keynes, and a chronology of events between 1750 and 1977. The purpose, is to enable the reader to perceive the main developments of the ‘industrial age’ against the lives and pre-occupations of the leading intellects of the same period. He concludes with a discussion about possible ‘ convergency’ between the various doctrines and systems reviewed, and looks at ideas about the future prospects for the world economy during this, the last quarter of the twentieth century.
